So, in case it’s not obvious why I haven’t posted anything it’s because Lara (our granddaughter – who we haven’t seen for nearly 3 years – for anyone who doesn’t know) and her friend Mirella arrived exactly one week ago today! And except for the very hour we picked her up at the airport (it started pouring) the weather has been really nice for them to experience the good side of Belize. They do find it hot though, I guess mostly because of the contrast – coming from cold Canada. But it’s actually the coolest weather we’ve had here in our experience so far.
The first three weeks of January were almost a right-off except for the anticipation of the arrival of Lara. We (apparently) had the H1N1 virus which has been going around the whole island! It totally wiped us out (lowest service record in my personal history!) A couple of the meetings were even cancelled because there were no brothers to do the parts!
One positive aspect of January…Rich’s cast finally came off after 2 1/2 months! For me this means once again having help with the dishes! Yes!!! For him it meant he could finally go swimming … the thing he missed the most … but he also washed all the windows and did some carpentry work to enclose the ugly dryer vent!
A feature, of course, last weekend, besides Lara and her friend arriving, was the Circuit Assembly! Sure needed that boost of spirit! Even though the district convention was a little over a month ago, it seemed time again for a dose of encouragement! And that we got!
An addendum to December’s blog, my bible study, Shehady had her beautiful baby girl December 20th.
