Lara Loved, Laughed & Left

Posted by on March 3, 2014

‘Lara @ Last’ turned to ‘Lara Left’ sooooo fast I can’t believe it! I think she had a blast… it’s just a blur already! She and Mirella were a real hit with the congregation and especially the Henderson family, who all but adopted them 😉

Of course, being fresh out of Pioneer school, she couldn’t wait to get to work helping out in the territory! She worked with pretty well everyone including some visiting brothers and sisters.

It was a totally new experience for her to be out in the ministry with no cars to ride in – strictly walking, riding bikes and/or golf carts to the calls. Actually one day she went with a group over to the north island which is only accessible by swimming or boat. Some kayaked and some swam that day (she would’ve been one of the swimmers, but we thought better of it, knowing the dangers with current and crocs!

Working in service here was also a cultural education seeing how the island people live here on Caye Caulker.

She even took an interest in the local ‘flava’, wanting to learn Belize Kriol!

Of course, she had the other kind of fun as well… she got to do the 4 touristy things she wanted to do most:

  • Snorkeled the barrier reef (full day via sailboat I might add)
  • Went cave-tubing
  • Went zip-lining in the jungle
  • Visited some Maya ruins

Rich and I enjoyed a peaceful 36th anniversary.. this one in the jungle!

The rest of the month flew by and before we knew it we were hugging and saying our farewells!

But… she’s hooked on Belize now, so I’m sure she’ll be back soon 😉
Right Lara?
